Why are you doing this?
Love wine and the Okanagan lifestyle. Life can be enchanting with a wine-buzz.
Who are you? Where did you come from?
I grew up in Ottawa. The big O. Skating the length of the canal, hot chocolate in hand. Or enjoying the tulip festival. Spent weekends dressed to the nines, dancing in Quebec. Wow – I miss that stuff.
Summers in the Maritimes were for eating lobster. Lived in Alberta, sadly lobster-free and I had really dry skin. The Rockies in Jasper! The only town I have ever regretted leaving.
Lived a long time in Vancouver, eating salmon. Hung out on the weekends in Whistler and Seattle. Stanley Park was my backyard. The city is bursting with high-end restaurants and superb hole-in-the-walls. I went out for 10 nights in a row, for the Jazz Festival. In my next life, I am coming back as a saxophone player.
Now, I live in Penticton surrounded by fabulous wineries. Am always short on sunscreen. There was a reason I was called freckle face strawberry as a kid. At day's end, sometimes I can look like a lobster.
What charities do you support?
People and their companions and causes. The purpose of life is to enjoy it and help others.
What is your favorite wine?
Impossible to say – there are too many! Been sipping British Columbia wines for 20 years. So believe me – I have a collection of best-friend vintages. Reds for early afternoons with Mediterranean lunches. Sipping whites with lake-views in the sunshine… The lakes are so big; I do not miss the ocean.
And yep I like bubbly too. To say, No to champagne is to say No to life. So I say YES to effervescence for breakfast and special occasions.
What do you do for fun?
Love swimming outdoors, even after dark under the starlight. Am crazy about movies, studied film in college. Cycling, for the sense of freedom it gives. Of course, I am a foodie; so I travel to try new foods. Can never get enough of architecture and art. If not cooking for my friends – I read. Venture out and drink up life!
